Why I feel the need to defend Kenny

Okay so after finishing the second season of the walking dead and thinking about the whole situation in the end I finally have been able to put into words why Kenny is one of the best characters in the series.

I realize Kenny is one of those character’s that you either love or hate and there is no in between and that is totally fine. If you don’t like Kenny that is a okay! However no matter what I always feel the need to defend my baby so here it is.

Kenny to me is the most realistic character in the whole series other than Clementine. You have two very different people and very different reactions to the apocalypse.

Clem is a child and as crazy as it sounds children can very easily adapt to new situations and then accept that that’s how life is. If you deal with terrible things at a young age you simply take it in and over come it. That’s why Clem is realistic she has accepted the world because truthfully she wasn’t in the other version of it too long. She’s still growing up and finding out how the world works.

But then you have Kenny. He knew what life was before everything happened and he had everything that made a life a successful one by community standers. Then to have that all taken from you in front of your own eyes is something that would make anyone a broken person.

The thing is not a lot of other character act like that even though that would be the norm. Seeing the people you love die in front of you even after it becomes something “normal” still would have an affect. Take Luke for example, his best friend died and he didn’t say a word about it. It seemed like he didn’t even care and perhaps it was just for times sake but that would not I repeat NOT happen in the real world. And this upsets me because the other characters act like Kenny is some crazy person for not being able to deal with whats happening when in reality almost everyone would be like that.

Kenny is a realistic character who deals with mourning in the most human way possible and him getting hate for that is uncalled for especially by people who don’t know what it feels like.

Also in the ending Kenny had Clem and the baby’s best intentions in mind something I don’t think you can say for Jane. Jane doesn’t want to be left alone and wouldn’t have begged Clem to do what was better for her if it meant that she would be alone. Kenny is all about family and Clem was his family and even though it killed him he wanted what was best for her and that’s all that matters.

So in other words Kenny is just a precious baby who needs to be protected at all costs and just needs more hugs. If I could I would have hugged him every time I saw him in the game…*sighs* if only.
